Toretto's Car (Charger 1970)

When it comes to action movies with cars and chases, there is no saga more iconic than Fast and Furious. Throughout these films there are not only sequences that take adrenaline and engines to the limit, but also vehicles that many of us would like to have in the garage or, at least, to drive at some point. Among all the cars that appear in these tapes, there is one that has always stolen the show: Dominic Toretto's 1970 Dodge Charger RT. That one that in the first movie rises on two wheels by the great power of the engine. Today we tell you more about that car and a couple of transformations it had during the movies.

In Fast and Furious, Toretto explains to Brian that he built the car together with his father, who had died in it during an accident. This fact, combined with the car's great power, make Dominic somewhat afraid of the vehicle. Toretto's fear was perhaps justified. That 1970 Charger RT, characterized by the air intake on the hood, had 900 horsepower. WITH THAT POWER, Dominic's father conquered the quarter mile in just 9 seconds.

This detail is important, as it is very difficult to complete the quarter mile in 10 seconds or less. This explains how he stayed in the lead with Brian's Supra that had multiple engine modifications.

CHARGER MAXIMUS

The most obvious changes to this 1970 Charger RT are aesthetic, such as the body color, which changes from black to silver and includes Italian leather-wrapped interiors. But the most important change occurs in the engine.

This car is equipped with a V8 engine and two superchargers, giving it an incredible 2,250 horsepower, 1,350 more than Toretto's father's car. It is capable of going from 0 to 100 km/h in 2 seconds and capable of reaching 257 km/h in 8. But perhaps the most incredible thing about this car is to think that it is actually out there on the streets, as last year it was auctioned.
